The Garden

The Garden Blog was created with the purpose of being a safe space for the Women of Wellness (self proclaimed or otherwise) to express the different aspects of their mental health, wellness and self-care activities without boundaries. I’m excited to announce that I’ve invited a team of some of my favorite Women of Wellness to highlight how they heal in their own lives (and in response to the world around them) by offering their own bi-weekly blog segments. So without further ado, please enjoy their introductions.

THE G’s POV

THE G.jpg

Kyndal G. aka “The G” is a young, up and coming fashion designer based in Chicago running the small business/brand Garments Of Joy. She has an incredible eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through the art that is her work. The G’s favorite self care activities include face and hair masks, being 420 friendly and collaging. Currently attending college for Product Development in Fashion Design downtown, The G hopes not only to continue making a name for herself and her work, but to highlight the current social climate regarding Black bodies and voices, shedding light on this intense world around us.

The Hood Hillary

Ajee G. aka “The Hood Hillary”, is a DePaul Journalism graduate, and a southern city girl making her voice heard. Finding her niche in more areas than one, she spends her time storytelling, styling, profiling, living and learning. An experienced blogger, when she’s not spending time being drop dead gorgeous, she’s focused intently on her journey of healing and growth. Another 420 friendly member of The Garden, her self-care routines include dancing, cooking and candle lit showers. The Hood Hillary can always be trusted to conceptualize the world around her with an open mind, an open heart and through a lens of possibility.

Thee Dasia View

Dasia R. aka “Thee Dasia View” is a Communications graduate of Triton College. Thee Dasia View is the epitome of what it means to be an ever evolving woman. Focused intently on her path to wholeness and her wellness journey, she has made it her duty to be a lifelong learner. Currently studying esthetics, Dasia is focused on building clientele through both her budding esthetician skills and her brand strategy/social media marketing freelance work; and her solo blog is launching sooner than we might think! My favorite person to ball out with and another 420 friendly member of The Garden, Dasia spends her self care time on skin care, good foods and indulging in luxury.

The Melanated Empath

Briana B. aka The Melanated Empath is a Psychology graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. A seasoned Woman of Wellness, her focus and ultimate goal is to assist as many individuals as possible in their healing by providing guidance and knowledge that can help connect them to the highest versions of themselves. Her favorite self care routines include chakra healing through yoga and meditation as well as healthy, holistic eating, healing and living. A champion of community, The Melanated Empath serves as a case manager for young, at risk men each and every day.

The Blackedout Barbie

The Blackedout Barbie.jpg

Gabbie G. aka “The Blackedout Barbie” is a Political Science and Economics (double degreed up) graduate of DePaul University. Acknowledging her addictions and unhealthy coping mechanisms was a large part of the start of her journey towards healing and growth, and she motivates others through her writing to do the same. She stresses the point that acknowledgement is only the first step of many in healing. Now, with renewed faith and dedication in her recovery, The Blackedout Barbie is more determined than ever not only to unlearn her unhealthy coping mechanisms, but also to replace them with new, more fulfilling and healthier options towards healing. Another 420 friendly member of the garden, her favorite self care activities include fitness, therapy, loud music, quality time with loved ones, makeup and reading. When she’s not focused on her work (in the fields of both beauty and childcare), she focuses on being consistent in her growth and making moves towards her biggest life goals.
